Susan Mary Maldonado Romero, 70, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, with family by her side. She was known by everyone for her big welcoming heart and looking on the positive side of things. She loved learning and teaching others to enjoy the love of learning. She spent much of her life as a homemaker and pioneered an early homeschool organization in Espanola, taking homeschool groups to several nationwide destinations. She was an anchor in her Espanola neighborhood, where many kids would gather. After moving to Albuquerque, she enjoyed days with her grandkids, motorcycle rallies with her husband and sons, and daily hobbies of musical instruments, gardening and reading. Her Faith and love for her family gave her the joy that she shared with everyone she met.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Tom Romero; and her four children, Samuel Maldonado (Denise), Manuel Maldonado (Nicole Garcia), Daniel Maldonado (Emily), and Sherry Maldonado (Patrick Lucero). She loved all her grandchildren with her whole heart and they were one of the biggest joys in her life - Markos, Lily, Dennis, Isabella, Anthony, Miguel, and Feliz. She was a godmother to many, and her godchildren were a sparkle in her eye. Keeping Faith alive in every generation was always a priority to her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis Maldonado; and her parents, Jack and Bernice Victor of Santa Fe. She is survived by her siblings, John Victor (Lynda), David Victor, Alan Victor, Jim Victor (Holly), and Sharon Petney (Andy).
