Susan Joy "Suzy" Fisher

May 18, 1954 — June 30, 2025

Susan Joy "Suzy" Fisher was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, on May 18, 1954. She was the middle child of Alan and Jo-Mary Fisher. Suzy lived in Brockton, where she attended Bridgewater State College, graduating with a bachelor's degree in sociology.

Suzy joined the United States Air Force and served as an aircraft mechanic, stationed in California. Later, Suzy separated from the Air Force and moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she worked for IBM while working to earn her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certificate.

She moved to southern New Mexico, where she worked in the Emergency Department at Mimbres Memorial Hospital. In 2006, Suzy met Sue Fox, a college professor at Central New Mexico Community College. Suzy moved to Albuquerque in 2007.

Suzy and Sue fell in love and later married in August 2013. Suzy and Sue bought their dream home in Corrales, New Mexico, in 2016, where they raised six dogs: Eli, Odin, Kegan, Bruce, Grace, and Lila. Suzy trained therapy dogs and visited hospital patients with her two therapy dogs, Grace and Lila. Suzy was an active member of High Desert Therapy Dogs, where everyone loved her, Grace, and Lila. Suzy was diagnosed with colon cancer in July 2021 and fought valiantly to live. She will be remembered for her intelligence, empathy, and generosity.
