Sue Ann Thompson, 92, wife of the late Larry Thompson, passed away on December 16, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM. Sue was born in 1933, in Bristow, OK, where she spent her childhood and early adult years. Shortly after getting married, Sue and Larry moved to Albuquerque, NM, where Sue taught organ and piano to many students over a 25-year period.
In addition to her musical pursuits, Sue was a skilled investor and loved looking for real estate opportunities. She was an active member of several churches, serving as an organist at First Methodist Church and as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church, prior to attending Sandia Presbyterian Church. Sue was also very active in the community and supported numerous musical and educational activities in Albuquerque. Known for her hospitality, Sue hosted countless formal dinners at her home which will be remembered by all who participated. Above all, Sue loved her family and worked tirelessly for the welfare of those in it. She also did her best to pass on the values she embodied to everyone in her family. In short, Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Sue was predeceased by her husband Larry and her granddaughter Delany. She is survived by her children Rogan Thompson, Loren Thompson and Diana Whitehouse and their spouses, as well as eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 10, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park located at 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM in the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at 2:00PM. In honor of Sue's pursuit of excellence in general and in music in particular, those who wish may donate in her name to the Jackie McGehee Young Artists' Competition / Music Guild of New Mexico (www.musicguildofnewmexico.org). The organization is dedicated to fostering the pursuit of excellence in the next generation of classical musicians.
