Listen to Obituary

Steven Ellis Scott, 65, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was born on March 28, 1961, in Roswell, New Mexico, and passed away on August 22, 2026, following an extended illness. Throughout his cancer journey, Steve formed meaningful connections with the many caregivers who supported him and he was deeply grateful for their kindness.

Known lovingly as "Bud," he was kind, gentle, respectful, and quick to laugh. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making others feel welcome. Steve's positive outlook, open heart, and ability to see the good in people brought warmth to everyone around him.

Steve lived with a learning disability and met life with dignity, resilience, and wisdom. He had an above-average memory and a remarkable recall for people, stories, and special moments.

For most of his life, Steve lived with his beloved parents, Ellis and Shirley Scott, and was a devoted son. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He enjoyed country music, sitcoms that made him laugh, big cups of coffee, cold beer, and collecting pictures of family and friends. He valued time with those he loved and found joy in everyday moments.

Steve is survived by his sisters, Donette Wagner and Dacia Roberts, both of Albuquerque; his nephews, Chad Wagner and E.J. Roberts; his niece, Elizabeth Roberts; and extended family and friends.

Steve "Bud" Scott will be remembered for his warm laugh, good manners, tenacity, and generous spirit. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
