Steven Gonzales, age 28, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend, was called to heaven on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, after a three-year battle with cancer. He entered this world on January 2, 1992, in Albuquerque, NM, born to David Gonzales and Deirdre Candelaria. He is survived by his mother, Deirdre Candelaria; father, David Gonzales; sisters, Stephanie Gonzales, Lori Gonzales, and Serina Gonzales; grandmother, Anita Gonzales; and grandfather, Leo Candelaria.
Steven had a great love for the Lord, family, and friends. He had a warm infectious smile that would light up any room. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing basketball, going to church, fishing, working on his grandfather’s 1969 Dodge Dart, loved driving his grandfather, Tata’s 2002 Camaro SS, and he was a big fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and Las Vegas Raiders He was a man of great faith. Steven was deeply loved by his family and is leaving behind a lot of beautiful memories and a great legacy. Our family is heartbroken; he was taken too soon, but we know he left behind an eternal legacy. We will never forget the strong, courageous, and faithful young man you were. Steven had Philippians 1:21 tattooed over his heart “to live is Christ and to die is gain”. He truly believed and showed everyone around him that this verse was true to him.
