Stephen M. Dobbins passed March 5, 2026 at age 78 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Steve was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He worked for the Bank of America in many locations in Asia, including Japan, Jakarta, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Thailand. He raised ostriches in China and South Africa. He enjoyed Costa Rica and deep-sea fishing. He began playing golf when he was tasked with getting Gary Player to design a golf course in Jakarta. He made fish leather and sold exotic woods for a time. Before he retired he worked for Brookline Development in Florida. Steve is survived by two sisters, Maureen Kerr and Rosemarie Renn, and a grandson Taylor Phillips-Dobbins. His dear friend, Terry Dettweiler took very good care of him. His first wife was Sandra Gatewood. They had a son, Sean Michael Dobbins, who is deceased. His second wife was Hisako Kobayashi. Steve's cremated remains will be stored at Gate of Heaven with no service. There will be a private celebration of Steve's life at a later date.
