Stanley Pierre Baker

January 14, 1931 — March 10, 2016

Stanley Pierre Baker, age 85, born in Lincoln, IL January 14, 1931, sixth child of Io and William Baker, passed away March 10, 2016.

Stanley came to New Mexico May 25, 1951 while in the Air Force, stationed at Kirtland A.F.B. In September of 1951, he met his future wife who was a student at U.N.M. on a blind date. In August of 1952, Stanley was stationed at a radar site in Alaska which was then a territory.

On Thanksgiving Day, 1953, he returned to New Mexico and married Genevieve Hubbard on December 26, 1953 in Raton, NM.

Stanley worked for Mountain Bell for 35 years retiring December 30, 1990. Stan was active in community affairs. He was President of the Kiwanis Sunrise Club, President of Mitchell Elementary School PTA and Meet Director for the Heights YMCA Swim Club. He traveled extensively including Russia, Hawaii and the Panama Canal. He loved his family. Keeping his yard beautiful was his joy.

Besides his wife, Stanley is survived by his children, Janie, Judy, Ginger, Chris and Kevin; grandchildren, Beau, Troy, Randy Wayne, Kayce, Margaret, Claire and Aidan; and great-grandchildren, Isabell, Riley, and Isaac.

Rosary will be recited Monday, March 14, 2016, 8:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, 2621 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 8:30 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Raton, NM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 3301 Candelaria Rd. NE, Suite B., Albuquerque, NM 87107.
