Shirley Hagan

September 27, 1943 — January 30, 2024

Shirley Anne Hagan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Shirley is survived by Marc, her loving husband of 55 years, children Glenn, Susan,(Brian Calt), and John (Natasha), and grandchildren Natalie, Deidre, J.D., and Shawn. She is also survived by her siblings Virginia (Ginny) Tamblyn and William (Bill) Reid, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born in Memphis, Tennessee on September 27th, 1943, to Helen and Dale Reid. She was the middle child, with older sister Ginny, and younger brother Bill. The Reid family moved to Denver when Shirley was a year old, and spent the rest of her childhood there. As a young adult, Shirley joined the Delta Sigma Phi Sorority, and was an active member of the Park Hill Methodist Church. It was there she met her future husband Marc Hagan. Nine months after they met, the two tied the knot at the same church they met in 1968. Their marriage, and Marc's service in the Air Force, brought them all over the world, from Vietnam to Turkey to Germany. Along the way, they had three children, Glenn and Susan, born in Aurora, Colorado in 1970 and 1973 respectively, and John, born in Minot North Dakota in 1976.

The family then moved to Albuquerque in 1981, where Shirley began her 27 year career in the Orthopediatrics Department at Carrie Tingley Hospital. She worked there until her retirement in 2009. She joined the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Albuquerque along with a bowling league that she loved dearly. She loved needlepoint and made many Nativity sets as well as villages. Shirley learned to make and frost cakes while in Germany in 1973, she progressed to any cake someone desired and then wedding cakes.

A lifelong Denver Broncos fan, Shirley was a joy to spend time with, always willing to offer advice or a humorous remark about anything. She leaves a legacy love, family, humor, and of course lots and lots of cookbooks.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 10:00 am at French - Wyoming with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
