Shirley J. Gallamore, known for her unwavering strength and boundless love, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on October 5, 2024, with family at her home in Evergreen, Colorado. She was born on June 7, 1943, in Lockney, Texas to A.L. and Imogene Smith.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lt.Commander John Gallamore, her father and mother and her brother Kenneth Smith. She is survived by her loving children, Charles Westerhold and wife Tina, Susan Young and husband Jeff, and Tammy Montour. Shirley will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Cody and Taylor Westerhold, Andrea and Sharon Westerhold, Victoria Montour, Elizabeth Montour, and great-grandchildren Alexandria Martin, Wyatt Westerhold and Lucy Westerhold.
Throughout her life, Shirley excelled in various roles, from earning a BA in Business to showcasing her talent as a seamstress, cake and floral designer. She also worked several years as a secretary for the military defense sector at Kirtland Air Force Base and Aerospace in California. She served as the Marketing and Promotions Director for Duke City Raceway, leaving a lasting impact on her community.
Shirley's resilience shone through as she battled cancer for two decades, survived a harrowing car accident, and faced numerous health challenges with courage and grace. Her determination to keep fighting, to share her strength and beauty with her family, was an inspiration to all who knew her. What truly set Shirley apart was her kind and loving heart, which touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her devotion to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was unparalleled, making her a pillar of strength and love in their lives.
Shirley J. Gallamore leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and beauty that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and light she shared so generously with the world.
