Sharon grew up in Kensal, ND, a small town in central ND with a population of about 350. In her childhood she was surrounded by a loving family that shared a deep faith and trust in God. A faith and trust she maintained throughout her life.

She graduated from Kensal High School in 1957. In high school she was a star basketball player and co-captain of her team for 3 years. She was also a cheer leader for the boy's team.

When Sharon was in the 3rd grade, she really admired her teacher. So much so that she developed a desire to become an elementary teacher herself. After graduation from high school, she went on to Valley City State Teachers College (now Valley City State University) and earned her teaching credentials. She then went on to become a very well-liked 3rd grade teacher. She loved her students and they loved her.

After teaching for 11 years, she and Harry Sherlock (Kensal High School class of 1956) renewed their acquaintance. Harry was an Air Force pilot. After a courtship filled with good times and adventure, they were married in 1971. At this time the two of them made the decision that Sharon would be a "stay at home Mom". Their son, Jason, was born the following year.

Marriage and motherhood did not end Sharon's teaching. After marriage she taught 3rd grade Catholic religious education classes (CCD). An activity she first started while in high school. She devoted I0 plus years to teaching CCD at her local Albuquerque parish, Sangre de Cristo.

In addition to her many hours as a volunteer CCD teacher, Sharon spent time volunteering for other activities. Most notably she was recognized by the leadership of Kirtland AFB for her 10 plus years and 2,500 plus hours of service to the military community as a "Family Services" volunteer.

Sharon will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 55 years, her son, Jason (Bente), granddaughters Kaja and Emilie, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as all those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Stanley Kulla, sister Madaline, seven brothers; George, Matthew, Herman, Hubert, Edmund (Pete), Stanley Jr. and Donald.

A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 - Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church at 10:30am with a mass to follow immediately after at 11:00 am. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
