Sharon Craven

October 29, 1938 — February 6, 2024

It is with deepest sorrow that we said goodbye to our beautiful Mom, Grandma and Friend, Sharon Ann Renzelman Craven. Sharon departed this earth unexpectedly on February 6th, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM with her family by her side.

Sharon was born in Wray, CO on October 29, 1938, to Elmer and Eileen Renzelman.

Proud of her country roots, she would often share her fond memories of working alongside her father on the family farm. Never one to shy away from hard work, Sharon would rather work in the fields than in a kitchen. However, when her father asked her to take on the "farming" as a career, Sharon had to break it to him that she wanted to be a nurse, and quite the nurse she was.

Sharon was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ronald D. Craven, in Denver, CO on July 18, 1958, and remained married for 62 years.

Sharon attended public schools in Vernon and Wray, CO. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1961, from University of Denver. There she met her lifelong friend, Ann Brown. Her degree opened the door to many years of nursing at Presbyterian, Anna Kaseman, and University of New Mexico Hospitals, in addition to nursing manager at Bernalillo County Detention Center.

Sharon retired from nursing in 2000. At that point she and her sisters assisted in the care of their Father and later she cared for her husband during his final years.

As a mother and friend, she was a selfless woman and was first to offer help. She put the needs of others before herself. Her love and compassion were immeasurable, which she instilled in her children and grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her children, Jill (husband Kelly) Medford; Jerri (husband Tim) Lusk; grandchildren Kasi McDaniel and Kellby Medford; her special little dog Molly B; and numerous nieces and nephews. She had many longtime friends - too many to list - you know who you are. She was the friend every friend wanted to have.

Sharon is proceeded in death by her husband, Ronald Craven; son, Douglas Kirk; parents, Eileen and Elmer; and sisters, Donna Patterson and Karen Danforth.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, March 1, 2024 at 10am at FRENCH - Lomas. Sharon's final resting place will take place at a later date in Wray, CO.
