Sandra Gay Richardson

Sandra Gay Richardson, 78, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, after living a life full of love and generosity.

Sandra is predeceased by her mother, Gladys L. Richardson; and father, Rich 'EW' Richardson. She is survived by her children through marriage to Michael J. Lucero, Brennan Michael Lucero and Vanessa Suzanne Lucero; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Lucero; sister, Dr. Patrice Richardson; brothers, Terry Richardson and Mark Richardson; and her four adored grandchildren, William and Alora Lucero, and Maximus and Jaxon Feit.

Sandra was born to Rich and Gladys on December 15, 1944, in San Angelo, TX and reared in Albuquerque, NM which she considered her only home. She attended Heights Catholic Elementary School and graduated from St. Plus X High School in 1962. She went on to study English at the University of New Mexico where she would meet her future husband, Mike. She worked in the family business, Rich Ford, for several years as a paralegal before becoming an owner in the parent company in 2003.

She dedicated her life to her family and had a passion for taking care of animals. In addition to being the guardian of many dogs and cats over the years, she would generously donate to animal care organizations and emergency funds in the case of tragedies that affect humans and animals.

Sandra had a vast creative side, and consistently strived to keep herself engaged learning new skills. Her knowledge was illustrated in original paintings, as well as short story writings and creating beautiful greeting cards which she would proudly share with family and friends.

Sandra will be dearly missed by her family and friends old and new. Services honoring her memory will be held Friday, May 5, 2023, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University. Reception to follow at The View Events Center, located at 1550 Tramway Blvd. NE 87112.
