Sandra "Sandrea" Gonzales

Sandi “Sandrea” Gonzales, beloved mother of Sabrina, passed peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at the age of 76.

Sandi was a dedicated member of her community, from creating the Sabrina Single Parents Scholarship Fund during her time as the Director of the UNM’s Women’s Resource Center, to helping found WIMIN, Women in Movement, to taking students to Mexico to learn about Curanderismo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emma & Richard Gonzales. Survived by her daughter, Sabrina Smith, brothers & sister in laws, Jim (Shelly) & Richard Gonzales (Kathy), nieces & nephews Kalie (Andre), Catherine (Chris), Jennifer (Troy), Christina, & Trisha, great nieces & nephew Emma & Lani, and Zane. As well as so many comadres, family, and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be held on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, at Church of the Risen Savior, viewing at 9:00am, mass at 10:00am with reception to follow at French Funeral's on Wyoming Boulevard. A burial for family and close friends will follow at Sunset Memorial Park at 1:30pm.
