Sally Bayne Savage

Sally Bayne Savage, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 2, 2024, with her two children at her bedside.

She was born to Russell and Ione Glaves Bayne in Canton, MO, September 11, 1936. She attended Culver-Stockton College where she majored in Education and Journalism and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. During the summer, she visited her aunt and uncle, Frances and Tom Cabeen in Albuquerque, NM. They introduced her to her future husband, Robert A. (Bob) Savage, whom she married in 1957 and moved to Albuquerque. Their marriage lasted 50 years and they had three children: Ann, John, and Stephen, who was the light of their life.

Sally was a natural born and dedicated leader. She was president of the Jr. League of Albuquerque, co-founder, and board member of the All Faiths Receiving Home, on the Salvation Army Advisory Board, active board member of the Girl Scouts of America and elder of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a long-time member of the Chapter E.P.E.O and an active member at the Albuquerque Country Club where she was an excellent golfer, enjoyed playing bridge and continuing lifelong friendships. She was a voracious reader and a member of three book clubs: the Jr. League Bookies, the Doghouse Dames and the Ya Ya's. Sally was also passionate about her rose gardens and sewing beautiful clothes.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Savage; and his parents, Helen and George Savage; as well as her son, John Bayne Savage.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Savage Brown (Jeff); son, Stephen G. Savage; two grandchildren, Mark Robert Brown and Ryan Savage Brown (Kendyl); great-granddaughter, Taytum Francis Brown; dedicated friend, Geneva Rivera; and two companion dogs, Turbo and Sammy.

At her wish, no formal service will be held. Her family will gather for a private burial.
