Sadie Benson

Sadie Benson, 106, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home on June 1, 2024. She was born on January 11, 1918, in Madrid, Colorado, to Manuel and Rachel Griego. Her mother died when she was 3 years old, and she was adopted by her godmother, Matia Salito.

Sadie married Merle Benson, Sr., in 1943 and moved to Pueblo, Colorado. In 1953, the family moved to Farmington, NM, where Merle was a machinist, and she was a dental hygienist. They lived in Farmington until retirement in 1979, when they moved to Albuquerque.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her husband, Merle Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Hines (Bill) of Scottsdale, AZ; her son, Merle Jr. (Sharon) of Albuquerque; her dog, Benji; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Sadie was a loyal member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at French Funerals-Wyoming. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10 a.m. at French Funerals-Wyoming.
