Ruth Kathryn Dunning

October 31, 1937 — August 13, 2023

Our loving mother, Ruth Dunning, was born in Pennsylvania on Halloween Day and has passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Mom grew up in Tucson, Arizona but lived in Albuquerque for most of her life.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel Cuadra and his wife, Becky, Alan Cuadra and his wife, Tina; her daughter, Deanna Mielke and her husband, Darrell; her beloved grandchildren, Shelby, Kyle, Jessica, Justin, Nathan, Hope, Jacob and Alana; her ex-husband, Luis Cuadra; her sister, Eleanor Dickson and her children, Gretchen, Heather, Paul and his wife, Susan; her brother, David Dunning and his family; and extended relatives living in Brilliant, Ohio.

Our mother was a woman of few words but as a child, a glance, could say 1,000 words. She worked hard taking care of her home and her children. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and would pray for them daily and looked forward to opening her home and celebrating everyone's birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve as much as possible. We all have many memories of family get togethers eating wonderful food, playing games and exchanging gifts at Grandma Ruth's. She loved to cook and was an amazing seamstress. She could fix any sewing problem we had as well as make bridesmaid dresses, her daughter's clothes and Barbie clothes to enjoy and to sell. When we were young, she also worked at the family business, Sierra Vista Tennis Club Proshop, and for many years as a realtor here in Albuquerque. At the end of her working career, she worked in sales at two major department stores and enjoyed the benefits of beautiful clothes and furniture.

Mom was a 40 year+ member of Montgomery Church of Christ. She was a member when Harvey Porter and his family were pastoring and was involved in many ministries throughout the years. She enjoyed her church very much and cherished all her friendships.

Mom's favorite time of the year was the fall. She celebrated fall all year long! She would collect leaves, buy leaves, decorate her home with leaves, wear leaf clothing and get us all involved in her collection of leaves. I know all the family will forever see a leaf and be reminded of her and tempted to buy it. lol!
A Funeral Service to honor our mother will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park. To help celebrate with us guests are invited to wear your favorite fall color or bring a leaf to share. She would love that!

I want to make sure and send a huge thank you to Haven Care Assisted Living and the amazing caregivers. We could not have helped her with all her needs without you. I also want to send a huge thank you to Bosque Trails Hospice for their loving care in the last few months of her life. Just one big family and I am so grateful to every person and their contribution of mom's care.
Mom, we will never forget you and all that you did and sacrificed for your children. We know you are home now with Jesus and are still cheering us on.
We are truly blessed to call you, our mother.
We love you!
