Ruby G. Burkhardt, 101, passed away March 23, 2018. Ruby was born December 21, 1916 in Old Town, Kentucky to Linzie and Nancy Pennington. She moved to Albuquerque in 1947 where she worked as meat wrapper for Safeway stores. Upon her retirement she spent 25 years volunteering in the Activities Department at Princeton Place nursing home. Ruby was a resident in Princeton Place for the last years of her life, where she had many long-time friends.
Ruby attended First Baptist Church for many years, and when she could no longer drive she went with her family to Grace Church. While at First Baptist Church she had many happy times with their senior group.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Burkhardt; her son, Ronald Burkhardt; her parents; and all of her six sisters. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Burkhardt and wife, Pam; her daughter-in-law, Judy Burkhardt of Frisco, TX; five grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Monday, March 26, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH – University. Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 27, 2018, 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. also at FRENCH – University.
The family would like to thank all those at Princeton Place who took excellent, loving care of Ruby. A special note of gratitude to Barbara Minor of the Activites Office, who was Ruby’s special friend.
