Roy Patton, 89, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on December 23, 2023. Following the promise of a job he found himself in Abilene, Texas where he met and married the 1st love of his life Waldine Patton. They spent the next 56 years raising their 3 boys, traveling, watching their grandchildren grow into adults with families of their own and they built a life legacy that we are all so proud to be part of. Roy was a hard worker and an entrepreneur, after working door to door selling pots and pans, then working for Kraft foods, and finally for Phillips Mercantile he decided to take a leap and start his own company. At the age of 40 he opened; Patton distributing and it was a labor of love that he and Waldine built from the ground up. From there his love of sports led him to open Krystal's NFL Shoppe in 1986, he and Waldine worked side by side building and growing that store and they were successful with it for 35 years. Roy and Waldine shared a lifetime of love and sacrifice, life would hand them obstacles and they figured it out together. They traveled the world together and enjoyed all their hard work , of course always bringing home goodies from afar for their grandchildren who adored them. Roy always had something to say, it could be a funny joke or story or if you were lucky it was wisdom, the kind of wisdom learned from a lifetime of mistakes and successes. Roy was very active with the Shriners International in Albuquerque where he served in many roles throughout the years and he was given the title of Potentate for the state of New Mexico in 2000. After being Potentate he remained very active in the Shriners and after Waldine passed in 2011 his involvement in the Shriners allowed him to meet his second love, Alma. They married in 2012 and enjoyed the next eleven years together traveling and enjoying life. Roy loved his family well and we will miss him tremendously. He is preceded in death by his parents, Erma and Jesse: his wife of 56 years Waldine; his Son Scott Patton; and his brother Fred.
