Rosella "Rose" Montoya was born in Salida, Colorado. She married the love of her life, Onecimo "Oney" Montoya, on June 6, 1970, in Minturn, Colorado. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around love, family, and devotion to one another. They first made their home in Paramount, California, later moved to Pomona, California, and eventually settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1991.

Rose was the heart of her family. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures-crocheting, tending to her many plants, and, above all, spending time with the people she loved. Her home was filled with the warmth and care she so naturally gave to others. Rose had a playful spirit and loved to joke and laugh, creating moments of joy that her family and friends will always cherish.

Rose passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Sally Bustos; her sister, Lindy Martinez, and brother-in-law, Toby Martinez; her brother, Tom Bustos; and her son, Todd Cherek.

Rose leaves behind her devoted husband, Oney Montoya; her children, Dena (Hector) Garcia, Eric Montoya, and Mark (Gabby) Montoya; her beloved grandchildrenAubrieanna, Mark, Darlene, Hector, Diego, Eric, Anthony, Toby, Nicole, Lauren, Dominik, and Bianca; and her great-grandchildren, Dani Rae, Rilee, Aaliyah, Andre, Noemy, Camila, and Joana.

She is also survived by her sisters, Jo-Ann (Bob) Rivera and Elaine Woodhead; her brothers, David (Dana) Bustos and Mike (Kathy) Bustos; as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

A Rosary will be held at 11:00 a.m. at French Funerals & Cremations, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112.

A memorial luncheon will follow at American Legion Post 13, 1201 Legion Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.

Rose's life was one of love, family, strength, and quiet grace. The love she gave so freely will continue to live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all whose lives she touched. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she planted within her family will remain forever.

"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always."
