Rose Kirmer

September 4, 1921 — December 5, 2023

Rosa Elvira Kirmer was born in Punta Chame, Republic of Panama on September 4, 1921. She was the middle child of eight children.


As a young lady, she was crowned Chepoa Carnival queen and was a member of the gold medal winning Panamanian fencing team in the Pan American Games in Columbia. She graduated from the Escuela Professional, was a radio operator for Tropical Radio during World War II, and had her own radio poetry corner program under the name of Rincon de Perla Silva.


After marrying Arthur Kirmer and living in the Canal Zone, Rosita became an active member of the Balboa Women's Club and the Pan American Roundtable, volunteered for the American Red Cross, and did many charity fund drives for Arch Bishop Clavel.


Rosita passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023 at the age of 102. She was preceded in death by her beloved Arturo. She leaves her two children, Nelly Maria and Irwin (Shari), four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.


Rosary service is May 21, 2024 at 8:00 am, followed by mass at 8:30 am at Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont NE, Albuquerque, NM. Reception follows at Magdalene Hall, 2611 Utah NE, Albuquerque, NM. Burial is at Sante Fe National Cemetery on May 22, 2024 at 10:30 am.
