Rosalee was a cherished great-grandma, grandma, mother, and wife. She was best known for her kind and welcoming spirit and always embodied warm hospitality. She hosted and served numerous international guests, kids slumber parties, Friday night homemade pizza nights, and epic pool parties. Her mothering extended to more than just her own children.
Rosalee was proud to have been an Iowa farm girl, born to Betty and Leo Bowdish, with plenty of stories to tell about her sisters Susan and Julie and their pony Dimples. She attended Christian College and Iowa State to become a home economics teacher. She was an accomplished pianist and found much joy from playing her favorite hymns.
She was an enthusiastic volunteer and donated her time to worthy endeavors such as the United Methodist Women, Cub Scouts, and Wings Ministries. She was passionate for the Girl Scouts of the USA and logged 50+ years training leaders and inspiring scouts with confidence-building skills. She lived the Girl Scout Promise and was always up for backpacking, skiing, sewing, or a cookout. She loved New Mexico - especially the brilliant blue sky. Over the years she adopted and loved many dogs and cats.
She supported her husband Warren's family medicine career at the University of New Mexico and abroad, and accompanied him on travel adventures and even lived in both Puerto Rico and India. Together they fostered a legacy of learning and goodwill with every project they undertook.
Rosalee loved the Lord and was faithful and dear to a wide network of friends. She is survived by her husband Warren, sister Julie (Don) daughters Wanda, Kim (Mike), Kara (Anthony), son Art, grandchildren Sheila (Andrew), Sam (Jasmine), Jack (Abby), Riley, and great-grandbabies Fara and Luca.
A service to remember how special she was is planned for 4:00 pm on Monday June 8, 2026 at Christ United Methodist Church, 6200 Gibson Blvd SE Albuquerque, NM 87108, her spiritual home of 58 years. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations in her honor be made to the Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails, 4000 Jefferson Plaza NE Albuquerque, NM 87109 so that meaningful life adventures can happen for others.
