Ronald John (Ron) Fuss

Ronald John (Ron) Fuss, 78, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026.

Ron was born in Sommers Point, New Jersey, on June 8, 1948, to Sheridan W. Fuss and Amelia A. Shennan-Fuss. Ron grew up in the Albuquerque's South Valley with his family; stepfather "Pop" Scivier; mother, Amelia; brother, Sheridan; and sister, Joyce.

Ron was a proud UNM alum, earning his master's degree in music education. During his university years, he met his wife Patricia (Patty) Bugge and began a family; son, Alan.

Ron was respected and beloved by the thousands of students he encountered as a private brass instrument instructor and as a music teacher and conductor in the Albuquerque public schools, Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program, UNM pep and marching bands, and Hummingbird Music Camp.

After nearly two decades of pouring everything into music and his students, Ron turned his outgoing personality to sales and eventually real estate where he was fortunate to find balance between work and life. He most enjoyed tinkering around and relaxing at his mountain cabin, watching sports (especially UNM Men's basketball and his grandchildren's soccer matches), and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing poker, fishing, and doting on the cats.

Gregarious, intelligent, and a stranger to no one, he will be forever deeply loved and missed.

Recently predeceased by his brother, Sheridan, Ron is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Alan, and his wife, Elizabeth; grandchildren Mia, Ethan, Logan, and Owen; sister Joyce Forney and family; sister-in-law Soni and family; and many other cherished relatives and friends.

Celebration of life ceremony will be on Monday, October 12 at 11:30am at FRENCH-Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, consider a contribution to the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program.
