Robert (Bob) E. Pozega, 86, husband and father, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on August 25, 2018. Bob, the son of John and Helen Pozega, was born on October 24, 1931 in Anaconda, MT.
Bob graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in mathematics. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. While stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque he met Maxine Castillo. They married in 1955 and raised four daughters. Throughout his career, Bob worked in government defense as a research engineer. Bob brought his love of fishing in Montana from his earlier years to New Mexico. His favorite fishing spot was the Taos Box. His other enduring passions were excelling in duplicate bridge, handball, and ballroom dancing. Bob and Max were always admired for their flare on the dance floor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Maxine Pozega; and daughters, Joni Pompeo (Byron), Catherine Pozega, Robyn Esquibel (David), and Maria Hutchinson (Robert); and seven grandchildren. Also surviving Robert are his siblings, Richard Pozega, Judy Jones, Jon Pozega and Jane Bender. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Lois Dunlap.
A private memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Since fall was Bob’s favorite time of year, a celebration of his life will take place in October. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Bob’s name to Animal Humane New Mexico, animalhumanenm.org. Bob will be deeply missed.
