Robert Norman Tomlinson

Robert N. (Bob) Tomlinson died Thursday, December 21, 2017 on his 87th birthday. He was born in 1930 in Mount Holly, NJ to (Charles) Roy and Kathryn Tomlinson and lived there until 1954 when he joined the Air Force. His service brought him to Albuquerque in 1955 where he met his future wife, Carol Ann Shade. They married in 1957, and Bob started a long career as an engineer at Sandia National Laboratory from which he retired in 1998. Bob was an ardent traditional jazz fan and traveled with his wife to many western states jazz festivals. He was a member of the Rio Grande Jazz Society and thoroughly enjoyed attending their concerts and social gatherings with Carol until her death in 1999.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Erik Tomlinson in 2005. He is survived by his son, Robert D. Tomlinson and wife, Laurie of Los Alamos; granddaughter, Jillian Tomlinson of New York City; granddaughter, Amanda Tomlinson of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Ardythe Jacquot of Martin, SD and Nancy O'Carroll of Laura, OH; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH – University with Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
