Robert Lewis Richardson, 85, of Albuquerque went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. He was born April 9, 1931 in Parkersburg, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman E. Richardson and Ida Marie Richardson (Hendershot); sisters, Garnet May, Mildred, Nora Lou; and brother, John. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jackie (Robbins); his sons, Mike, Kurt (Susan) and Eric (Sue); and brothers, Herman, Russell and George.
Robert served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, assigned to the 6th Fleet Flag Ship USS Salem. After his honorable discharge, his commitment to public service enabled him to retire from 30 years of dedicated duty as a U.S. federal agent. He was a deeply devoted father and husband who, during his tenure in federal law enforcement, made vital career decisions in order to provide stability for his family. He enjoyed camping, hiking and fishing with his loved ones during which times he gladly assisted countless fellow travelers in times of need. As an avid outdoorsman, he passed on his reverent love of God's creation to his three sons, and three grandchildren. His kind heart and gentle nature was shown in many ways, from ensuring quality time spent with his children and grandchildren during their formative years to extending the hand of charity to the homeless. He is remembered as quietly confident, immovable in his convictions and a solid God fearing shield for his beloved family and friends. Ultimately, he is the rock solid foundation upon which his family was established and upon which we staunchly remain, through good and bad times, committed to one another in his example through God's love.
