Robert (Bobby) John, 84, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on March 26th, 2025. He was born in Albuquerque to Melvin John and Edith Bauer John on January 30, 1941. Bobby was a proud graduate of Highland High School and the University of New Mexico where he earned a degree in civil engineering. He dedicated many years to helping run and expand the family business, Allied School and Office Products, playing a pivotal role in its growth and success. Bobby was also deeply involved in his community. He served as president of many boards: Albuquerque Jaycees; Rotary Club of Albuquerque; UNM Alumni Association; Christina Kent Early Childhood Center; Albuquerque Civic Light Opera; Tennis Club of Albuquerque; and National School Supply and Equipment Association. His work ethic, combined with his visionary mindset, left a lasting legacy in the community.
Bobby loved to explore the world around him. He enjoyed fishing, camping, skiing, golfing, traveling, and hot air ballooning. One of his greatest passions was playing tennis. He also enjoyed dancing and had impressive jitterbug skills. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Wherever he was, from the dinner table to gatherings with family or friends, there was always laughter.
Bobby is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of almost 64 years, Jeanie John; daughters Kathleen Neuber, Christine John, and Carrie John; grandsons Trevor Neuber and Jeffrey Neuber; brothers-in-law Robert Westfall and wife Mary, and Thomas Lancaster; niece Rebecca Weldon and family; nephew Michael Lancaster and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Ruth Ann Brewer; and sister-in-law Sue Lancaster.
Bobby will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his dedication to family, and his commitment to making the world around him a better place. He lived life fully, embraced every moment, and inspired all who knew him to do the same.
A memorial service will be held on April 26th at 2:00 pm at FRENCH-Wyoming to honor Bobby's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:
