Robert Morris Fass of Albuquerque passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, after a short illness. He was born in Marysville, California, and grew up in Dillon, South Carolina, as the son of Harry and Sylvia Fass. During his teenage years, he was a soda jerk, played trombone in the high school marching band, and worked as a "Pedro" at South of the Border - a tourist stop along I-95, on the North Carolina/South Carolina border.

In 1964, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he began his career as a personnel specialist. It was at his first assignment-Canon Air Force Base in New Mexico-that he met and married Linda Freeman. Throughout his military career, Bob served at various locations, including Pope AFB in North Carolina, Hickam AFB in Hawaii, Kirtland AFB in New Mexico, Langley AFB in Virginia, and RAF Weathersfield in England supporting the Red Horse Squadron.

Upon retiring as a Master Sergeant, Bob chose to return to New Mexico, settling in Albuquerque with Linda and their four sons, embarking on a second career in sales. In his civilian retirement, he became a familiar face at Oso Grande Park, where he formed many valued friendships during his morning walks with Linda, and their dog, Bandit. He served his community as president of the Oso Grande Neighborhood Association, the District 8 Coalition of Neighborhood Associations, and was an active member of the Friends of Bear Canyon Senior Center.

Bob enjoyed time in his yard - watering the grass, feeding the birds, and manning the grill. He was exceptionally proud of his boys, appreciated quality music, good food, and NASCAR. In Hawaii, he even tried his hand at amateur stock car racing. In his later years, as his beard grew and turned white, his sly grin, twinkling blue eyes, and jolly chuckle allowed him to play Santa Claus for local daycares, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Bob is survived by his wife, Linda; his sons, David (Gina) Fass of Centerville, OH, Michael (Michelle) Fass and Jonathan Fass, both of Albuquerque, and Daniel (Michele) Fass of Red Oak, TX; his sister Marjorie Fass (Robert Rabinowitz) of Ellicott City, MD; grandsons, Randy, Billy, Tyler, Liam; granddaughter Jensen; nephew Andrew; and niece Allison.

He will be interred with military honors, in a private ceremony, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held the morning of Friday, May 8, 2026 at Oso Grande Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oso Grande Neighborhood Association.
