Richard "Dick" Yeck, a native of Albuquerque, NM, died on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in Florida. He was born in 1937, the son of James Othello Yeck and Virginia Ann Seery. He was commissioned into the US Navy and served 22 years as a Cryptologic Officer. In 1967 he married Ann Nocito, with whom he had two children. He served another 22 years as a systems engineer and defense contractor with General Dynamics. After a divorce and retirement, he returned to New Mexico and served the community in several capacities, including as a volunteer for the Bureau of Land Management -- cataloging and leading sightseeing tours of Native American petroglyph art, and for the Friends of Paleontology, writing articles on dinosaur fossils found in the vast volcanic landscape. He won three medals in the New Mexico Senior Olympics -- for ballroom dance, cycling, and discus. He succumbed to Alzheimer's after battling the disease for ten years, and is survived by Ann Yeck Frank, Dana Cahn Gordon, Glenn Yeck, and three grandchildren.
