Services for Reyes Hernandez Jr will be Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. A private viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m., a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., followed by a mass officiated by Reverend Tien-Tri Nguyen at 11:15 a.m. Reyes' final resting burial place will be at Vista Verde Memorial Park, and a reception will follow Reyes' burial at St. Jude's Thaddeus Catholic church.
Reyes died January 9, 2026 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 84. He was born November 24, 1941 in Gallup, New Mexico. He graduated from Gallup High School and afterwards joined the United States Navy on June 8, 1960. Reyes spent the majority of his military service on the USS Greenfish submarine where he traveled to many different countries. He fell in love with the sandy beaches and settled in Honolulu, Hawaii with his first wife, Charlotte Jennewein, where they raised his only child, Linda Christina. In 1975, he returned to New Mexico where he worked in construction and later as a concrete finisher. Later in life, he met and married Theresa Barela where they enjoyed 37 joyous years together. Reyes loved listening to music and dancing to mariachi/ranchera music, he enjoyed playing the piano, the guitar, and the accordion, and traveling to Florida with his daughter to visit family and the white sandy Gulf beaches.
Reyes is preceded in death by his Parents Reyes Hernandez Sr and Herlinda Garcia Hernandez, his beloved spouse, Theresa Hernandez, and his brothers Joe Hernandez, Frank Garcia, David Thomas, and his sisters Delfina Martin and Helen Zultak.
Reyes' survivors are his only daughter, Linda Christina Flores (and husband, Robert L. Flores), his two grandsons, Robert M. Flores and Richard E. M. Archuleta, (Richard's wife Michaela), and Richard's daughter, which is Reyes' first great-granddaughter, Olivia Archuleta. Reyes is also survived by his two sisters, Virginia Ramsey (of Panama City, Florida) and Guadalupe Olson (of Gallup, New Mexico), and his step children, (Ted Barela, JeanettaVictoria Ortiz, Sandra Barela, and their families).
Pallbearers will be Robert Flores Sr, Robert Flores Jr, John Ramsey, Eli Benally, Ted Barela and Jacob Barela.
