Reverend John Gilman Ramsey passed away April 8, 2018 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
John is survived by his wife, Nellie Ann Conover Ramsey of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister, Edna Alice Ramsey Mosig (Dirk) of Kearney, Nebraska, and a brother, Newell Roy Ramsey (Brenda) of Sandia Park, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Newell Robert Ramsey and Mildred Grace Gilman Ramsey of Logan, New Mexico; and a sister, Colleen Marie Ramsey Nelson (Charles) of Alpine, California.
John was an ordained Baptist minister who dedicated his life to his beliefs. He graduated from high school at Logan, New Mexico in 1950, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960 from Eastern New Mexico University. He received a Master of Divinity degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary at Kansas City, Missouri in 1964.
John received his Certificate of Ordination from the Valley Memorial Chapel of Calvary Baptist Church at Kansas City, Missouri in 1964.
He worked hard in various occupations throughout his life, such as farming, ranching, truck driving, home improvement, telemarketing, and standardized test scoring, but his focus and passion never strayed from his religion. In later years, he volunteered as minister at a local prison and even performed his own translations of parts of the Greek and Hebrew bibles.
He was a remarkably thoughtful, honest, and loving man.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Logan, NM Baptist Church, 601 Armijo St., on April 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. He will be buried at the Logan Cemetery
