He immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s, and settled in Albuquerque, NM. He was immediately hired at Pat Goodwin's Office Equipment, where he worked for over 35 years, and then retired. He spoke Spanish, English and French fluently, and was co-founder of the Albuquerque French group "Le Groupe Français" in 1985. He was also very involved in the Albuquerque Spanish group. René loved a good party and made many friends through these organizations. The local PBS station affiliate KNME was another organization where René volunteered for many years.
René loved going to the opera, listening to classical and symphony orchestra music, attending plays, and the arts. He enjoyed reading books, especially world history. His favorite place to travel to was Europe, especially France. Family, friends and neighbors admired and were always aware of Rene's headstrong personality and fighting spirit.
