Dr. Renato A. Reyes was born on January 21, 1961 in Lamabayong, Providence of Sultan Kudarat, Philippines to the late Alberto Sr. and Teodora Agduma Reyes (He was the 8th of 10 children).
He graduated from the Notre Dame High School in Lambayong and finished his Bachelors of Science in Biology in 1983 at Ateneo de Davao, Philippines.
He was a graduate of the Cebu Institute of Medicine, Cebu, Philippines, passed the USMLE in 1995, completed his internship in Washington, DC, and a Geriatric Medicine subspecialty in Hawaii. He also completed his Masters of Business Administration from the University of New Mexico.
He was a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of American College of Physicians.
After graduating from medical school, he volunteered for several medical missions including Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War, Nuestra Senora Guadalupe Mission Clinic in Zamora, Ecuador, and the Bayanihan Clinic in Hawaii.
In 1990, he was the Medical Coordinator of tuberculosis and leprosy in Mindanao, Philippines. He worked at the Kokua Kalihi Valley Health Center, Honolulu, Hawaii as an Internist/Geriatrician.
He was one of the founding members of Providence Mabuhay Medical, a nonprofit global humanitarian aid organization.
He served as a Hospitalist in several hospitals such as Queen's Medical Center, Hawaii; Sutter Medical Center, California; Presbyterian Health System, New Mexico and Intermountain Health Medical Center, Utah.
He has earned several honors including the Gerry Roxas Leadership Award from Notre Dame of Lambayong, Philippines; Outstanding Intern at the Cotabato Regional Hospital, Philippines; Liberation of Kuwait Medal, Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and Presidential Certificate of Merit as a volunteer physician and team leader for the Philippine Medical Mission: Gulf War.
He was the president of Agduma Clan Organization International for several years.
He is survived by his beloved wife - Dr. May Reyes and 7 siblings (Virginia Atchuela, Amado Reyes, Leopoldo Sr. Reyes, Rizal Reyes, Nydia Magallon, Alberto Jr. Reyes, Carlos Reyes).
He loved flying plans, hiking, traveling and nature, especially planting trees. He loved poetry and painting. He is gifted with his voice and an incredible singer. He had great faith in God and Jesus.
A celebration of life service will take place at French - Wyoming on May 16, 2025 at 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. Funeral services will be held at St. John XXIII Catholic Community Parish (Tramway Ridge, Albuquerque) at 10 A.M. on May 17, 2025.
