Rayoma Sue Martin, 85, peacefully passed away on December 28, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Gorman, Texas on November 4, 1940 to Ray and Lona Smith.
Later on as a young child, she moved to Lubbock, Texas. In 1960, she met the love of her life, Sam Martin, while attending Texas Tech and Southside Church of Christ. They were married on September 2, 1961, in Lubbock, Texas and moved Albuquerque, New Mexico where they resided for 64 years. In November 1964, Sam and Sue had a son, Tom, followed by a daughter, Kristie, in 1967. She was a homemaker and loved to serve others. She also prepared and/or coordinated large meals at church events for many years. They never ran out of food with her in charge. Also, she loved babies and children, teaching the nursery and the two-year old Bible classes. She was a faithful member of the Netherwood Park Church of Christ for 64 years. She was lovingly known as MawMaw to her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Tom.
She is survived by her loving husband, Sam Martin; a daughter, Kristie Bland and her husband, Ron; granddaughter, Sarah Bland; grandson, Stephen Bland and girlfriend, Kim Ewing; granddaughters, Aubrey Hardin, Kimber Hardin and Dani Sue Hardin; her sister-in-law, Suzanne Brown and her husband, Burton; sister-in-law, Raleen Sloan and her husband, Tim; two nieces and three nephews; and numerous cousins who were more like siblings since she was an only child.
Her funeral services will be on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Netherwood Park Church of Christ, 5101 Indian School Rd. NE, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Albuquerque Christian Children's Home or Ponderosa Christian Camp which were very special to her.
