Raylene Spotted Bear-LeBeau was born on February 15, 1961 to Delores Ducheneaux-Miller and Kenneth Harold Spotted Bear.
Raylene was a very happy child. When she was little, the family always had to keep an eye on her because she loved butter and would crawl onto the table to eat it. Anywhere Raylene went, she always brought back stray animals that would follow her home. Raylene was once asked by her family, “How many babies are you going to have?”. Raylene responded, “I am not going to have babies, I am going to have puppies.” Raylene met Corbin LeBeau Sr. in her teens, and for Raylene it was love at first sight. Raylene married her teenage sweetheart and together they had five beautiful children; Corbin Jr., Fain, Erin, (Jordan Knife), Bradley, and Tahlon LeBeau. Raylene graduated from Presentation College, received her Nursing degree, and worked as a nurse for over 28 years. She loved taking care of people that were in need of help. Raylene was employed at the Public Health Service in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. During this time, Raylene enjoyed years of happiness with Corbin and her children. There wasn’t anything Raylene wouldn’t do for her children. Raylene and Corbin were active in keeping their children involved in extra-curricular activities not only for themselves but with the community children as well. Raylene moved with her family to Yuma, Arizona where she continued to work as a nurse and retired in 2015. She later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she enjoyed a quiet life.
Raylene entered the Spirit world on March 26, 2018 at the University of New Mexico Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Raylene loved life, her family, her children and grandchildren all of which she was proud of. She is remembered by her grandchildren, Mele, Corbin III, Christian, Madison, Carter, Cayden, Matthew, Julian, Darian Michael, Sophia, Shelby, Jazmyne, Noah, Adam Theodaore, Gabriel, and Christopher Bradley. Raylene was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Lebeau; mother, Delores Miller; father, Kenneth Harold Spotted Bear; and her two brothers, Kenneth (Ted) Spotted Bear and Terrance Miller. Raylene was a ray of light to us all and had a very silent strength about her. She was strong in her convictions and there will be a hole in our family with her loss, but we know we will see her again.
Raylene’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018, 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Eagle Butte, South Dakota.
