Prospero Sedillo, 91, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025.
Prospero was born on September 14, 1934, in Manzano, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fidel and Teresita Sedillo; his beloved wife, of 62 years Lita Sedillo; sisters, Francis Montoya and Corrine Melton; and brother, Feliciano Sedillo.
Prospero is survived by his sons, Raymond and wife, Linda, and David and wife, Bernice, of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Melissa Sedillo of Scottsdale, AZ, Melinda Rodriguez and husband, Jose of Albuquerque, NM; and David Sedillo of Chino Hills, CA; great-grandson, Jose Rodriguez III and sister, Angie Salas of Albuquerque, NM. Prospero is also survived by many brothers and sisters in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews that were dear to his heart.
Prospero graduated from Moler Barber College in Los Angeles, CA in 1957 and cut hair on Kirtland Air Force Base, NM for over 17 years. Following that, he had a successful career at Sandia National Laboratories, from which he retired in 1997. For many years, he worked part-time at the NM State Fair, where he gained many lifelong friends. Prospero and Lita were regular attendees at church fiestas and senior center dances throughout Albuquerque; and he was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church for 60 years.
A Rosary will be recited on December 22, 2025, at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption, located at Lomas and Tennessee NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be David Sedillo, Jose Rodriguez, Melvin Alderete, Michael Montoya, Stan Benavidez, and Johnny Salas.
