Prebble Rudene (Lakey) Alcon

June 1, 1938 — August 7, 2023

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Prebble R. Alcon, 85, entered heaven’s gates, passing peacefully with her family at her side on August 7, 2023. Prebble was born in Bethany, OK on June 1, 1938 to Edith (Moore) and PR Lakey. Soon thereafter, the family relocated to NM where she was raised and remained for the rest of her life. She was a graduate of Highland High School, class of ’56. After high school she entered the workforce as an administrative assistant before obtaining her National Security Clearance and joining the Atomic Energy Commission (Sandia Labs). Soon she was introduced to Eluid Alcon at Netherwood Park Church of Christ and they went on to marry on January 11, 1960, recently celebrating 63 years of marriage. They began raising their family by welcoming their first child Rick and soon thereafter Michelle. Prebble and Eluid moved into their family home on Blackstone in 1971 where they remained for more than 50 years.

Eluid and Prebble were active partners in the business community most notably through their time at Alcon’s Harley-Davidson. Prebble was deeply committed to raising her family in a loving Christian environment as a servant leader. Her love of The Word and God’s will was evident in her service to others and the example she set in reading and studying her Bible every day of her adult life without fail. She was recently celebrated by the church family she loved at Netherwood Park Church of Christ as one of the last remaining charter members still alive and actively attending since the early 1950s. While Prebble enjoyed a variety of activities, she was an especially skilled and avid quilter. There is lasting evidence of her love and devotion to family and friends on beds and quilt racks throughout the world.

Prebble’s most cherished role was Grandma P to her four grandkids and two great-granddaughters. She loved spending time with them, traveling with them on various vacations, teaching all of her granddaughters to sew, and cheering them on in all of their activities. She was so proud of all of their accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and PR Lakey. She is survived by her husband Eluid Alcon; brothers, Don Lakey (Anita) of Fairview, PA & Phil Lakey (Luanna) of Waukesha, WI, son Rick Alcon (Susie) of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Michelle Eggleston (Jeff) of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Dr. Sara Alcon of Edmond, OK, Kristen Soden (Galen) of Albuquerque, NM, Braden Eggleston of Edmond, OK, Blakelee Eggleston of Amarillo, TX; great-granddaughters, Raelyn & Jade Soden; sister-in-law, Joycelyn Gonzalez (Ruben) of Rociada, NM; nephews; nieces; and a large extended family & close friends.

Thank you for your example, you are loved and will be deeply missed by us all!

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 18 from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM at FRENCH-Wyoming and a Celebration of Life service will be held at Netherwood Park Church of Christ, 5101 Indian School Rd, Albuquerque, NM on Saturday, August 19 at 10:00 AM.
