Peggy Cox Traver, age 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was a beloved mother, adoring grandmother, and devoted friend. Her grace, dignity, and kindness left a deep impression on the hearts of all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Leo Allen Traver. They met while both worked at the US Atomic Energy Hanford Plant in Richland, WA. They were married on New Year's Eve, and the world celebrated with them. They were best friends, soul mates, and eternal companions. Surely theirs is a joyous reunion in heaven! She also rejoins her sweet mother, Mary Floy Cox; granny, Mary Malinda Sloan Cox; grandpa, Benjamin Fredrick Cox; and son-in-law, David Keith Forsyth.
Peggy was unendingly devoted to her family. She leaves a great legacy for her two precious daughters, two sons-in-law, four granddaughters, and 13 great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her Nana. Peggy approached life with dignity, determination, humor, and a generous heart. She was a vivacious and fun-loving woman whose zest for life took her to 22 countries over the course of her life. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a great love for her Savior. She served her community in numerous capacities as Chairwoman of the New Mexico Judicial Standards Commission; President of the New Mexico Republican Women; Board Member of the New Mexico Cancer Center; and Director of LDS Public Affairs/ABQ East Stake. She was a member of PEO, and was a well-loved member of the Albuquerque community for 46 years.
She is survived by daughters, Holly Henry (Michael) of Santa Fe, and Julie Wittwer (Robert) of Corpus Christi, TX; granddaughters, Aubrie Worsley (Zachary) of Lumberton, TX, Laurel Dodds (Jeremy) of Las Vegas, NV, Rachel Erickson (Luke) of Boise, ID, and Maggie Mason (Nathan) of Dublin, CA; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Reagan, and Kailee Dodds; Lincoln, Isabelle, Brielle, and Adalyn Erickson; Rohnan, Lochlan, and Teyla Mason; and twins Trevor and John Worsley. The stories and memories shared by Nana will surely be passed on through all the generations.
