Peggy Lee

October 5, 1944 — February 25, 2024

Albuquerque

Peggy Jo (Harbin) Lee passed away on February 25, 2024 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 79. Peggy was born on October 5, 1944 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Albert Leroy and Fannie Jewel Harbin. She graduated from the Singapore American School in 1962 and married her high school sweetheart, David Lee, in Sydney, Australia in 1964. David and Peggy resided in Sydney for several years before moving to Albuquerque, NM. They subsequently lived in Phoenix, AZ, Simi Valley, CA, Beijing, Hong Kong, and again in Singapore before eventually ending up back in Albuquerque. Peggy had a deep love for the beauty of the Southwest.

Peggy moved from Texas to Singapore with her parents at the age of 16 and proceeded to travel to over sixty countries during her lifetime. She was an adventurous traveler, remarkable cook and hostess, and active member of her church. But her most cherished role was that of devoted wife, mother, and disciple of Jesus Christ.

Peggy did administrative work in her young married years, but once her firstborn arrived she dedicated all her time and energy to nurturing her children and family. In time, she also poured herself into others in many ways. Active in many Churches of Christ throughout her life, most recently the Montgomery Blvd Church of Christ, she taught classes, helped with various ministries, and became a spiritual mentor to many.

Peggy loved the Lord with her whole heart and was beloved by everyone who knew her. Her children, grandchildren-her entire extended family-and all who knew her will remember her as the epitome of patience, gentleness, and kindness. She was generous beyond measure. She freely opened her home throughout the years. She was a loving wife, mother, NaNau, and sister all of her days.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 59 years, David Lee; her son, Paul Lee; her daughter, Rebecca (Lee) Debenport and husband, Russ; grandchildren, Kate and Jack Debenport; sister, Bee (Harbin) Bloeser; nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, and many, many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 1 p.m. at the Montgomery Blvd Church of Christ, with a reception to follow at the church. Buddy Mills will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Peggy's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Albuquerque Christian Children's Home.

The family would like to thank the Neuroscience ICU UNMH staff members who showed such attentive care to her and the family in her final days and hours.
