Paul Roger Valdez, 74, of Los Ranchos, NM, passed away on May 4, 2026, in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Taos, NM on August 23, 1951, and grew up in Vadito, NM. Paul graduated from Espanola HS in 1969 and proudly served in the USMC from 1969-1972.
In his younger years, Paul loved camping and fishing in Vadito, and Northern NM where he grew up. He was also a very talented man and loved his Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his loving partner of many years, Ida Mae Chavez; his wife, Belinda Valdez, and their daughter, Catherine, his older children; Gene and Misty (Damien Lujan) and their mother and Paul’s best friend Mickie; his grandchildren, Dominic, Aiden, Alora, and Layla; Paul's brother, Ben; and his sisters, Marcia, Barbara, and Catherine; as well as his special nephew, Jamal who lovingly thought of him as a father; and many more loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Paul was a very caring man and had many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Jose Benito and Brenice Valdez; and his oldest grandson, Donovan.
As per Paul's wishes, a graveside service with military honors will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, 2:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
Paul's children kindly ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to support your local animal shelters.
