Paul M. Mizell of Edgewood, New Mexico, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Linda, a sister, Charlinda Korte, and two nephews, Paul and Jason.
Paul was born on Thursday, December 28, 1944 in Austin, Texas, to parents Clara Willmore and Earl Mizell. As a child he lived in Colorado and Oregon. He worked in the lumber and plywood industry as a heavy equipment operator and for the city of Salem as a mechanic. In the 80s he moved to Texas where he worked as a manager of an auto parts store. This is where he met his wife. Later they would move to New Mexico and join St. Paul UMC where his wife entered into ministry. When Linda was appointed pastor in Sanderson, Texas Paul would work as a school aide and bus driver. Part of his responsibility as and aide was to care for Jason, a severely handicapped student. Paul and Jason had a very special bond. As a clergy spouse he had the opportunity to influence and encourage many children and youth. They lived in Cimarron, NM for a time where Paul drove bus for Philmont Scout Ranch in the summers. Paul was a volunteer at Wildlife West where he feed and cared for the hoof stock and birds.
Paul and Linda also joined Duke City Square dance club. Paul's life-long love for cars and racing was his passion. He raced three-wheelers and snowmobiles for several years. Paul and Linda enjoyed following NASCAR, Indy, and IMSA racing.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mountainside United Methodist Church in Cedar Crest, NM, on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 10:00 am, with a Reception following the service.
