PATSY ANN (DUCKWORTH) HARP

01/03/1933-05/06/2026

Patsy was born and raised a true coal miner's daughter in Cumberland Kentucky. In school, she excelled in every academic scholar class or club, made the honor roll, was yearbook editor, cheerleader, and even voted cutest girl. She also taught at the local community college which she really enjoyed. Patsy's 1st husband Charles Ulery, lost his life while serving our country. They had one son named Charles Jr.

While teaching school and raising her son, she went on a blind date to a University of Kentucky football game with Steve Harp. After a short courtship, she re-married and moved from Kentucky to New Mexico in 1962. Child in hand, she followed the taillights of a Cadillac for 1500 miles, her parents gave it two weeks and she'd be back. But she proved them wrong by staying 64 years.

During that time, she was a wife, mother, stepmother, step grandmother, and bookkeeper for all the family businesses. She enjoyed doing stained glass, ceramics, crossword puzzles, crochet, needlepoint, quilting, collecting antiques, treasure hunting, but most of all, playing golf. Her favorite color was purple. She loved animals, but had a passion for ducks and hummingbirds. Spent thousands on feeding the wild birds. While feeding the wild birds, also came the skunks. The local news even did a story on the number of skunks they caught in their back yard and had relocated.

Everyone says their mother is the best cook. She truly was. She made down home grassroots country style meals and always made sure family ate well.

Due to her humble blue-collar childhood and many unexpected tragedies in her life, she was the toughest, strongest woman ever, yet she remained positive and so loving. Always thinking of and caring for others and made the best she could for all.

On her final day, she said her husband Steve and their friends were waiting for her on the golf course. We truly believe that.

Patsy Ann was preceded in death by her parents J.B and Florence Duckworth, her brother Harold, sister Edith, first husband Charles Ulery, second husband Steve Harp, son Charles (Chuck) Ulery Jr., and step-daughter Gloria Novak. She is survived by her son Marc (AnnMarie), step-daughters Sherry Wright, Tanya (Mike) Celenze, Nicky Weakland, Stephanie Harp, and Kristin Chancellor, some nephews, and 4 generations of step-grandchildren.

A brief service will be held on Saturday June 27, 2006, 1:30 pm at Sunset Memorial Park in the Centennial Garden.
