Patsy Lee Guynes (née Smith) went to meet her heavenly father on June 15, 2024.
Patsy was born in Anson, Texas on September 27, 1930 to parents Georgia and Walter, who raised her in Glen Rose, Texas. After graduating as salutatorian of her high school, she attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. She moved to Albuquerque and started working at Sandia National Laboratories after college, where she met her future husband, Clayton. She stayed home to raise her two daughters, and spent countless hours taking them swimming, shopping, to Uncle Cliff's, or wherever else they wanted to go. She could sew anything, making clothes for them as well as their dolls.
Once Patsy met you, you would be her friend for life. She will be remembered for her strength, her sunny personality, her humor, and her wild sense of adventure. She would readily give a helping hand to anyone, whether it was planning an event for her church or bringing joy to a friend in the hospital, and she was always happy to contribute a pie to any party. We know she'll live on in many ways: through the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls she made for new babies, through her funny idioms, and through the habits of optimism and perseverance she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
Patsy is survived by daughters Sheila (Ron) and Jennice. She also is survived by grandchildren Heather, Casey, Kirbi, Molly (Kevin), Kevin (Kate), and Lane (Amber); and great-grandchildren Chloe, Jacob, Tharon, Clayton, Marin, and Cormac. A heartfelt thank you to my sister, without whom I could not have made it through this without; and to her church and to all the neighbors, relatives, and friends for their unbounded love and care. We would also like to thank Harmony Hospice for their compassionate care. She will join her husband, Clayton; and her parents, brothers, and sisters in heaven, where we know they will welcome her with open arms.
A service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at Berean Baptist Church on 3800 Eubank NE. Patsy will be buried in a private ceremony at the Santa Fe National Cemetery alongside her husband, Clayton.
