Pablo “Paul” Martinez, 83, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born in Clovis, New Mexico, and made his home in Albuquerque for over 56 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who was known for his loving and generous spirit. A hardworking man, Paul dedicated his life to providing for his family and ensuring their well-being. He was deeply proud of his country and lived as a true patriot, carrying those values throughout his life.
A devout Catholic, Paul’s faith was a guiding force in his life. He was a loving caretaker not only to his family but to those around him, always willing to lend a helping hand. In his quiet moments, he found joy in tending to his garden, where his green thumb brought beauty to everything he nurtured. He also had a special fondness for caring for neighborhood cats, showing his gentle compassion for all living things. Paul enjoyed antiquing as well, taking pleasure in discovering pieces that carried history and meaning.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Alma Martinez; his son, Kenneth Martinez; his parents, Martha Martinez and Pablo Martinez; his brother, Manuel Hernandez; his sisters, Maria Hernandez and Ramona Aguilar and her husband, William Aguilar; Maria Elena Cornejo; and his sister-in-law, Mable Romero.
Paul is survived by his children: Ingrid Martinez, Cheryl Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Robert Martinez and his partner, Maxine Burns, and Reyes Martinez and his wife, Brenda Martinez.
He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Angel Lovato and her husband, Noah Lovato; Ian Gurule; Ariel Gurule; Vincent Martinez; Velinda Williams; Victoria Williams; Angelo Williams; Mia Martinez; Jonathan Martinez and his wife, Breann Martinez; Ariana Torres and her husband, Josh Torres; Andrew Martinez; Matthew Martinez; and Kristen Martinez.
He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with his sisters-in-law Nora Eppley, Yolanda Romero, Neva and her husband, Berto Ortega; Cindy and her husband, Polo Ortega, and brother-in-law Richard Cornejo, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends and family. He also shared companionship and care in his later years with Christine Facio, whose presence brought comfort and support.
Paul will be remembered as the foundation of his family, a man whose strength, kindness, faith, and unwavering love touched all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he cherished most.
