Olivia M. (Maestas) Griego

Olivia M. Griego, age 83, passed peacefully at home to be with our sacred Lord on Saturday, February 9, 2019. Olivia accomplished many things in her beautiful life. She was an active member of the Legion of Mary for 25 years at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and attended the parish since 1960. Olivia enjoyed singing, dancing, living a positive life, and spending time with her family and friends. Olivia had a dedicated relationship with her faith and love of God.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Griego; and her parents, Lorenzo and Barbara Maestas. Those left to cherish her memory include her five children: son, Ernest Griego; and daughters, Jeanie Griego, Emily Griego, Barbara Sanchez and husband, Danny, and Paula Gomez and husband, Pete. Olivia had 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many beloved siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.   Pallbearers will be Paul Griego-Gomez, Ezekiel Gomez, Isaiah Lucero, Jose Trujillo, Monico Lucero, and Mario Medrano. Honorary pallbearers will be Antoinette Maestas, Jeremiah Gomez, Daniel Sanchez, Donna Velasquez, and Sitina Gonzalez-Aragon. As Olivia’s favorite color was maroon, her family requests that maroon be worn in her remembrance.

Visitation will be at FRENCH - University on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited Friday, February 15, 2019, at 8:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 9:00 a.m., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1860 Griegos Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107.  Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
