Oclides E. DeFusco, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on April 12, 2026, in Richmond, Texas. Born on October 31, 1935, in Valdez, New Mexico, Oclides dedicated her life to her family and community. A proud graduate of high school, she became a cherished bilingual assistant for Albuquerque Public Schools, where she impacted the lives of many students throughout her career.
Oclides had a vibrant spirit, indulging in various hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She enjoyed bowling and square dancing, often spending time with friends and family. A passionate gardener, she found solace in nurturing her plants and flowers. Oclides was an avid traveler and enjoyed the thrill of gambling, creating lasting memories with her loved ones on adventures. Her unwavering dedication to her family was evident in the pride she felt while witnessing her granddaughters graduate and celebrating their milestones, including their weddings and her cherished role as a great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Oclides remained a devoted member of The Shrine of St. Bernadette, where she actively participated and lent her support to various church functions. She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary, marking a beautiful milestone in her marriage. Oclides will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and the love she shared with those around her. She is survived by her daughters Liz Wagner and JoAnn Huff, son John DeFusco Jr., son-in-law Michael A. Wagner, granddaughters Dannielle Foster and Shawnee Wagner, great-grandchild Austin Burton, great-grandsons Kordell and Kevin Foster, and several nieces.
Oclides E. DeFusco will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Services to honor her life and legacy will be announced in the future.
