In Loving Memory of Nessim Ohayon

03/10/1937 - 12/03/2024

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Nessim Ohayon, Bob. Boyba a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and musician, who left this world on December 3rd, 2024 in his home surrounded by family. His life was a symphony of passion, resilience, and love-a melody that will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched.

Born and raised in Morocco, Nessim spent his early years immersed in the rich culture of his homeland. At the age of 13, he was inspired by the Zionist movement to immigrate to Israel with his family, where he played a role in helping the nation establish itself as a safe haven for the Jewish people. His commitment to his new homeland extended beyond his youth, as he courageously served in the 1967 and 1973 wars, embodying bravery and dedication.

Music and art was the soul of Nessim. As a talented saxophone player, he spent seven years working as a jazz musician aboard a ship, traveling the world and sharing his gift. His love for the arts didn't stop at music-he was also an accomplished ceramic artist, crafting beauty with his hands and heart. A true citizen of the world, Nessim was fluent in French, Arabic, Hebrew, and English, using his linguistic talents to connect with people wherever he went.

Nessim's passions were as diverse as they were profound. He was a skilled canary breeder, caring for them with the same tenderness he offered to his family and friends. A devoted sports fan, he found joy in soccer, rooted for the Boston Celtics, and supported the New Orleans Saints in honor of his son's love for the team.

A firm believer in the power of education, Nessim emphasized its importance to his children and grandchildren. He made the courageous decision to move his family to America, seeking greater opportunities and a brighter future. Yet, through every chapter of his life, his unwavering devotion to family remained his guiding light. His love for his parents shaped the compassion he extended to others, and he passed those values down to the generations that follow.

Nessim will be remembered for his wisdom, his music, and the love he shared. He is survived by Lea Ohayon, Sagit Ohayon Frasier, Yariv Shlomo Ohayon, Ronen Ami Ohayon as well as his grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of resilience, kindness, and creativity.

The burial will be held on 12/5/2024 at 1 o'clock Fairview Cemetery.

Rest in peace, Nessim. Your melody will continue to inspire us all.
