Mikele Grant, age 61, left us on the evening of Thursday, September 17, 2026 after a brief battle with an aggressive cancer.

Mikele was born on Tuesday, January 5, 1965 in Dallas, Texas. She called a number of places her home including; Ruidoso, New Mexico; Siesta Keys, Florida; Escondido, California; and her home of 35 years and final resting place, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Mikele was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Grant.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Funk, her mother, Cecelia Grant, and children: Brandon Funk (Jenni) and Jesse Funk. She was also blessed with 2 granddaughters; Aria Funk and Zara Funk.

Mikele was a true pillar of her community, having spent countless hours creating friendships and long lasting family traditions. She was well known for her love for turtles, her expert sewing skills and her ability to throw a good party.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mikele's passing was not entirely unexpected, but it was much more sudden than anyone hoped. Please reach out to the family for details regarding services or a memorial.
