Merryl E. May, USAF, Ret, age 68, passed away March 26, 2018 at the UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
Merryl was born March 4, 1950 at Castle AFB, Merced, CA, to Russell and Norma Jean May. As an Air Force ‘brat’ he lived in Kansas, California, Alaska, Arkansas, England and Minnesota and in 1969 joined the Air Force to continue traveling and Michigan, Egypt and Germany were a few of those adventures for Mr. May. During the last six months he was in Germany and was stationed very close to his sister so they traveled to historic towns and wine festivals. Merryl also enjoyed the famous race tracks of Europe before moving back stateside to retire at Holloman AFB. In the early 1990’s his parents moved to Albuquerque from Klamath Falls, Oregon. They shared the interest in the local history, food, beauty of the land and especially the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Merryl, his sister and their father served a combined 66 years in the Air Force with the great support of his mother.
He is survived by his sister, Debra May; his cousin, Marlene and her husband, Frank Hinman; and his mother’s sister, Juanita Dower. Burial service with honors will be Wednesday, April 18, 2018, 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
