Marybeth Patricia (Lipinski) Perez Soto

Marybeth Perez Soto passed quietly on Wednesday Aug 9, 2023. She was born February 27, 1956 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to Barbara Louise (Burrell) Lipinski and Roman John Lipinski.

Marybeth competed horses from the early 1970s, taking her horse to Reserve Champion Illinois Jumper of the Year, 1974. She continued riding at Sweet Briar College while obtaining her undergraduate degree. In 1983, she graduated from The George Washington University with an MBA.

She moved to Phoenix and then to Albuquerque in 1991 where she met the love of her life, Jose Luis Perez Soto. They joined forces and opened Tonaya Farm in Albuquerque's South Valley to train horses and riders at all levels in dressage, show jumping and eventing. Marybeth graduated with distinction (1996) from the USDF L Program. She earned her USDF Bronze medal for achievement at first, second, and third levels and in 2017 earned the USDF Silver dressage medal for achievement at Fourth Level and Prix St. Georges. Marybeth competed at Intermediaire I in dressage, and evented at Preliminary level. In 2016, she took "Warlock", a Friesian stallion, to the Dressage Nationals, Fourth Level, in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was active in the New Mexico Dressage Association, serving as President 2007-2008. Marybeth, along with her husband and mother, was a member of the Juan Tomas Hounds.

She is survived by her husband Jose Luis Perez Soto and his son David Perez; her siblings Timothy Lipinski, Carolann Gerhard (John), Ronald Lipinski, Christiana Edwards, Robert E Lipinski (Kimberly) and Eric Lipinski (Lana); and 8 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister-in-law Therese Goetz; her niece Kendra Lipinski; and Jose's son Luis Roberto Perez.

She will be missed by her family, her many friends, her horses and her dogs.

A visitation and service will be held at FRENCH-University, on Friday August 18, 2023 from 1:30-2:30pm, with a reception following. Please attend the reception at 2:30 p.m., even if you are unable to attend the service. The family would like to see you.
