Mary Lynn Layton

Mary Lynn Layton, age 87, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024 after a courageous battle due to complications from surgery. Born on August 17, 1937, in Fort Worth, Texas, she lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to her family, community, and passions.

A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lynn is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Gonzales, Lurette Balkcom, Laura Smoot, and her son Doug Layton. She cherished her role in their lives and was known for her warmth and generous spirit.

Lynn was an avid reader and a world traveler, always curious about the world around her. She also found great joy in giving back to her community through her volunteer work with the United Methodist Women (UMW), Blue Portal, and the Assistance League.

A celebration of Lynn's life will take place at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Constitution Avenue in Albuquerque on Friday, September 20th, at 10:00 AM. She will be missed by all who love her.
